Supercharge Your Chances of Getting Into The College Of Your Choice
Upward Bound is a federally funded program designed to develop those skills necessary for success in college. The SAEOPP Upward Bound Programs serve 120 students from Gwinnett county. Students representing diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds are provided the following opportunities:
- Experiencing academic and personal growth through an intellectual challenge
- Exploring career options and possible college majors by visiting university/college campuses and Fortune 500 corporations
- Developing self-management, leadership skills, and critical thinking processes
- Attending relevant cultural and recreational activities
- Organizing personal college search strategies that include contacting college admissions offices, financial aid form completion scholarship research and application, and standardized test preparation processes.
Philosophy
Students and staff of the Upward Bound Program believe that motivation is the prerequisite for learning. Consequently, Upward Bound doesn’t just teach to, but instead “turns on” students to the real world. Upward Bound seeks to use each student’s strengths with the hope that they will discover the values of education and themselves.
